Pedro Sandoval (Venezuela, 1966)
Pedro began his career as a figurative artist in 1979, he chose abstraction for his works. This way, Sandoval could express his world.
His style has been defined as Abstract Neo-expressionism. Since 2000, he lives and works among Madrid, Berlin and New York.
Inspired by American Abstract Expressionist artists and German avant-garde, he has studied the paintings of Ad Reinhardt, Hans Hofmann, Cy Twombly , Georg Baselitz, Anselm Kiefer or Sigmar Polke.
His works are exhibited in various museums, such as Contemporary Art in Caracas (MACSI), or of Contemporary Art in Boca Raton, Florida. Many private collections have his paintings, like the collection of Borja Thyssen-Bornemisza or of His Serene Highness Prince Albert III of Monaco.
The most important prizes that Sandoval has received lately, are the Gold Medal “Lorenzo Il Magnifico”, won in the X Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence (October 2015), Best Contemporary Artist for the group “Pro Arte y Cultura” (February 2016), or the Prize for the Excellence in paint, given by the Circle of Art Critics.
