SOLIDARY ZUMBA, MADRID 2019 started loaded with surprises with our Solidary Zumba event at the UCM sport facilities. The objetive was to raise funds and raise awareness of the girls and boys with disabilities. This time we had the opportunity to collaborate with the local NGO Dakari. Dakari builds awareness creating videos with a social message and also they make workshops with children to improve the circumstances of socially vulnerable kids. Moreover, we had the chance to present the work of our first Little ambassador Sasha Romero: “El extranjero” (the foreigner). UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS GENEVA Our art exhibition took part at the opening day of “La Semana del Español” at the United Nations Geneva Headquarters. The opening of the exhibition took place on October the 4th at 8:00 p.m. at the Palais des Nations, The event w attended by Michael Moller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and other personalities. After the inauguration, our President Carlota Corzo, our art director Linda de Sousa as well as some artists of our exhibition had the chance to raise awareness about this kind of initiatives and their importance on SDGs implementation.
EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT DEBATE AND FRENCH LYCEE IN BRUSSELS Round table under the topic “How arts can affect politics and society: Youth involvement and Connecting Cultures initiative” . In this round-table we had an amazing debate between the different stakeholders such as; MEPs, member of the European Commission, UN representation, leaders of NGOs, artists of the art exhibition, refugees and 20 free spots to whatever person that wanted to join the debate. Out of this debate we delivered a document with the insights and conclusions and, at night we had a solidarity cocktail at the French Lycee. EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY OF MADRID The last place in Spain, the exhibition returns to Madrid, where it was surrounding "The Week of the Sustainable Development Goals".
CULTURAL CENTER, CIUDAD REAL UNIVERSITY The University of Ciudad Real, hosted the exhibition in April, this opening event was very special, as it had a painting workshop and another bookbinding workshop in which a group of refugees generated a work of art that is incorporated in the exhibition and some notebooks that travel with us and we for people to write during the exhibitions. During the opening, a reading of poems was made in more than 20 different languages and the exhibition was open and the professors of the University developed exercises and projects in their classes with their students, related to the exhibition and the theme. ARTE ATLÁNTICA GALLERY 4th exhibition place is “Galería Arte Atlántica” in La Coruña, in collaboration with Lions Club La Coruña Decano, showing how different non-profits can collaborate when there is a difficult situation to raise funds and awareness for another non-profit organization (CEAR) expert on the topic. They will host another Solidarity Cocktail and the exhibition for some days.
IE BUSINESS SCHOOL The second place where the exhibition was hosted was at the IE Business School of Madrid, with a “Solidarity Cocktail” where we introduced the exhibition to more than 200 participants, together with the IE Student Government, artists from different countries and CEAR raising awareness about refugees situation and where we had the chance to begin to sell copys. The following day, the exhibition continued at the “Christmas dinner” at the IE Business School of Madrid. REAL CASA DE LA MONEDA The third time, the exhibition was hosted at the “Real Casa de la Moneda” Segovia, together with the IEU Creativity Center, there, we had the chance to make a press conference were we could raise more awareness about the project and the refugees situation through different media, we also had an opening solidarity cocktail speaking about the project and raising awareness with food and drinks provided by local SMEs. The exhibition continued at “La Real Casa de la Moneda” for one month. SEIMUN The initiative was born in the framework of the South European International Model of United Nations (SEIMUN) in May 2017 in Granada, one of the most important United Nations simulations in the country, where the exhibition named after the motto of said edition. Where we began with 8 artists (8 countries represented) for the Opening event of the MUN Initiative, under the idea of “we do more than debate” aiming to go 1 step forward on the MUNs simulations and create impact with the main debate.
